February 30 in 30 - Day 5 / Francis + Benedict Collaboration - Day 1

An article released by USA Today states, "A new survey released this week by the Workforce Institute at Kronos and Mucinex details an estimated 13.9 million Americans will call in sick Monday after Super Bowl LII, making it one of the biggest sick days of the year."

Welp, there was no time for me to be sick today because today was LAUNCH DAY for Francis + Benedict's

and I have the special opportunity to use their skirts for inspiration

for my abstract work.

I absolutely love the mission behind this amazing organization.

Here's what they're all about:

"As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, Francis + Benedict exists to empower and equip skilled Togolese seamstresses by providing them with dignified and sustainable employment. In addition, our profits are used to resource community leaders in Togo, enabling them to continue projects that benefit orphans, widows, and those suffering in poverty.

Our handmade clothing marries American style with West African wax print textiles in order to create fashion-forward apparel for the modern woman.

We aim to make a lasting global impact by using our love for people and fashion to change communities ... One outfit at a time."

Incredible, right?

The look and quality of these skirts are incredible too.

I own 2 from past collections.

So here's my fave from the ADVOCATE COLLECTION:

Jalane (because of the print AND those pockets!!) !

And here's "Jalane" abstract style!

"Jalane" 16" x 20" mixed media

(oil. watercolor pencil, gouache and gesso) on linen /

17" x 21" in gold rubbed floater frame

This is my first of many ADVOCATE COLLECTION inspired works where 10% of each sale will go back to the

mission of F + B. I am dedicating March to more abstract work and the these gorgeous skirts will inspire the first 10-12 pieces that I create. They will be released on my site on Friday, March 9, 2018 . There's also POP UP in the works along with F+B...

Be sure to sign up below for my monthly Newsletter, Fallon's Fyler, where you'll receive info on all of my happenings as well as reminders

for releases and POP UPs like the above.
